About Mr Fitzgerald O’Connor

Central to my approach as a reconstructive surgeon is creating a plan that is personalised to you. Whether you have been affected by a traumatic injury or have been on a journey of weight loss, I start by understanding your goals.

Drawing on my knowledge and experience we discuss your options for how to best meet your goals vs any risks and your safety. Finally the choice is yours.

Profile

Mr Fitzgerald O’Connor left a career in banking to become a doctor, with a fascination for medical science and a drive to do something meaningful. From his first days at graduate medical school he was determined to provide excellence in surgery and care to patients. As a fourth generation doctor, born, trained and now based in London, he prides himself on his integrity and an open, honest approach with patients.

A dedicated and caring consultant plastic surgeon, Mr Fitzgerald O’Connor is passionate about making a lasting positive difference to patients’ lives. He works with patients to understand their goals and creates a bespoke treatment plan to get the best result for the least risk.

Mr Fitzgerald O’Connor is highly regarded in the world of reconstructive surgery and works at some of the best hospitals in London including The Cleveland Clinic London, London Bridge Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital where he also is Head of the Plastic Surgery department.

“I believe in being professional, honest, supportive and, above all, compassionate.”

My Approach

“My goal is for patients to achieve the best possible aesthetic and functional result for them and their body, with the least risk, so they feel happy, confident and free to get on with and enjoy the rest of their lives.

Through my years of practice, honing expertise in reconstructive surgery, I provide safe, innovative, often transformative surgical procedures in line with patient goals to help improve their lives."

My Experience

The core of my plastic surgery training was in microsurgery for patients with cancer or traumatic injuries - performing intricate highly complex operations to relocate and repair soft tissue, working under a microscope with blood vessels, nerves and tendons.

This experience has led to my focus today as an NHS consultant and Head of the Plastic Surgery department at St Thomas’ and King's College Hospitals - running the trauma reconstruction service.

In my private practice I can apply this experience of microsurgery and trauma reconstruction to skin removal surgery, post massive weight loss, as well as limb management for trauma patients and amputees.
