Pressure Sores

Pressure sores are localised injuries to the skin and underlying tissue caused by prolonged pressure, usually over bony areas of the body. They most commonly occur in people who are immobile for long periods, such as those who are bedridden or use wheelchairs.

Patients whose pressure sores do not improve with dressing care may require a surgical procedure to help the wound site heal. The goal is to get the pressure sore to heal and eliminate the need for ongoing dressing care which can impact a patient's independence.

In terms of how the scars will heal and fade over time, everyone is different and the appearance will depend on skin tone, elasticity and how your skin heals.
