SKIN PROCEDURE

Warts

A wart is a small, rough growth on the skin caused by a viral infection — specifically by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts are non-cancerous, and while they’re usually harmless, they can be unsightly or uncomfortable depending on their location on the body.

What's involved?

Warts can be unsightly and catch when shaving, for example if on the face. They can also be painful if on the feet. Genital warts can be a
cause of embarrassment.

Warts can be treated in various ways, sometimes in combination. The goal is to destroy the wart, stimulate an immune system response to fight the virus, or both.

Scarring

Generally wart removal leaves very little in the way of scarring. In terms of how any scars will heal and fade over time, everyone is different and the appearance will depend on skin tone, elasticity and how your skin heals.

Recovery

Recovery is quick following any surgical intervention for wart treatment. Simple dressings will be supplied if necessary.

Generally patients are back to work the same day and able to exercise again after day three.

A follow-up consultation is arranged for one to two weeks after surgery.

Risks

While most patients experience no significant complications, potential risks include:

Infection
Bleeding or Heamatoma
Scarring
Recurrence
Further surgery
